“But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of living water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.” Psalm 1:2-3
“But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7–8
Is our tap root strong and are our leaves green? Is the LIVING WATER our source? What kind of fruit are we bearing?
We’ve all seen a plant in our home when it has gone too long without water…it gets droopy, the leaves begin to curl from dehydration and if it goes too long without water… the brown creeps in and the leaves become brittle. On the other hand when the plant is well cared for it is straight and strong maybe flowering in brilliant color and vibrantly green, radiating beauty for all to enjoy.
We all have times when our leaves are greener than they are at other times, and our fruit more plentiful. May we all seek and drink from the spring of living water, our Lord.
John 7:38 says, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.”
Precious Lord Jesus, we thank you that we need never be thirsty, please help us this day to choose to plant ourselves by Your stream of living water and moment by moment let our roots go deeper. May your living water fill us up and overflow to those around us. And may Your glory be seen in the strength that You alone can provide.
