It’s hard to believe that once again we are at the beginning of a month. Life has felt like a blur lately and I can’t really put my finger on why except that we have a lot of life happening within the walls of our home and maybe even more outside our walls! I’m so thankful that speaking and praying scripture has become part of our daily habit each time we get in the car in the morning because if it weren’t for this intentional daily task, I don’t think we’d be memorizing scripture at all! But don’t put us on a pedestal by thinking that my children are cheerfully participating each morning, and we somehow have life figured out. Pretty much the exact opposite is happening! A lot of days I’m the only one attempting any type of cheer as we speak these scriptures and if I ask one of our children to read the prayer out loud for the family it is often done with drudgery. But I’m not stopping. Because I know that important life lessons are taught through consistency even when we don’t feel like doing them. In our house, brushing teeth, showering, doing laundry, and cleaning the kitchen, are all commonly done with drudgery by our children, but I’m sure you’d agree they are all important life lessons! Teaching our children (or teaching ourselves!) to speak and pray scripture is not just important, but powerful and life changing.
It is the Spirit who gives life…The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life. John 6:63

Ephesians 2:8
For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves;
it is God’s gift.
John 1:16
For from his fullness we have all received grace upon grace.
Colossians 3:12
Therefore, as God’s chosen ones,
put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
PRAYER:
God, You are a good, good Father who loves us so much.
Thank you that you give us the gift of salvation through your son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins. Help us to remember that this is not something we need to try to earn through good works but instead is a gift that we receive by faith.
Thank you for giving us undeserved grace upon grace. As we go about our day, I ask that you help us to put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience knowing that the grace we receive from you we should also pass on to others.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen
