When I think about living as a Christian (follower of Christ) I think of a few different verses: Matthew 22:37-39, Romans 12:2, and Philippians 4:8.
These verses tell us 3 things:
- To love God and love others
- To live in the world but not to conform to the world
- Dwell on things that are morally excellent and praiseworthy
It is through this lens that I have gathered some resources to share with you:
My good friend, and licensed professional counselor, Healey Ikerd hosts the Healthy and Redeemed Podcast helping Christians live healthier lives, emotionally and spiritually. I have listened to many of Healey’s episodes and have benefited greatly from the sound biblical wisdom and practical advice she offers. Healey has also authored two children’s books The Red Ball, a book about friendship and forgiveness, and The Worried Little Goat, a book about worry. Healey also has authored a must-have workbook for anxiety and worry titled Changing Your Feelings. If you struggle with anxiety or need practical tips for navigating mental health concerns then you can also find Healey here. She has been a huge blessing to me!
Habits of the Household is a book written by Justin Whitmel Earley. It is incredible. The idea is that our lives our formed by our every day habits and when we are intentional with these habits they are transformational and we can “become more like the lovers of God and neighbor we are called to be”. My family has adopted some of the rhythms described in this book and it has been so great.
Do you ever feel alone in your Christian parenting? This resource is incredible and I want more people to know about this one! Not Consumed offers lots of resources to help families with parenting, schooling and discipleship. There are age appropriate Bible studies, free printables and resources for homeschool families. This ministry is truly a treasure and you should definitely check it out!
The world seems to be changing at an incredible pace and it’s easy to feel lost, overwhelmed, or alone while trying to navigate living in the world but not conforming to it. Mama Bear Apologetics would be my number one resource for cultural matters. However, if you don’t have kids, don’t skip this resource! The founder of Mama Bear Apologetics doesn’t have kids either! Most likely there are children and teens (or other adults) in your life that could benefit from these amazing resources.
